Rebel, Rebel.

Shooting for the Melbourne Rebels, 2022.

Conversations that take place around 4 pm on a Friday usually sound something like ‘where are we heading for knockoffs?’. But in Melbourne, during a pandemic, this particular chat was about the state heading into a snap lockdown at midnight.

Sporting teams in Victoria were forced to evacuate the state so the national competitions could continue, and players and clubs were allowed to train with fewer restrictions. For me, that meant leaving work, heading home, packing what you might need for a few weeks, and punching it across the border and to Canberra before the clock strikes 12.

Check out my favourite shoots & edits here.

After a few weeks in Canberra, shooting and editing content to help fans and sponsors stay connected to the team, we returned to Melbourne to continue the regular Super Rugby season - only to be pushed out of the state again a few weeks later, this time to Sydney.

All part of the experience, it was amazing to spend time with so many athletes and build upon the strong community connection this club has with its Burn City fanbase.

It was also a highlight being able to shoot the Wallabies vs France in August.
